About Me

Hello, I am Brandon Szabo and I am a senior double majoring in interactive media studies and journalism & media communications with a double minor in marketing and graphic design. I have been around North Central College for a long time as both my parents and sister attended North Central College. I have grown up in Naperville my entire life and have seen the changes it has gone through. Growing up I enjoyed being active and hanging out with the neighborhood kids. I played many different sports but I narrowed it down to soccer, basketball and rugby. I ultimately decided to focus on soccer my last two years in high school and was recruited to play at North Central College.

Before starting my first year at North Central College I applied to be a part of the sports information team. Some of the tasks I have are stat keeping, writing articles and making graphics. As my junior year started I wasn't enjoying soccer as much as I did before. I started to enjoy working and wanted to devote more of my time to sports information. I decided to move on from soccer to grow and learn more about sports information. Working in sports information for my fourth year has helped me gain more experience and knowledge in many different areas. It bolstered my resume and helped me land an internship over this past summer.

I was a corporate communications intern at Navistar with a focus on social impact. One of my roles at Navistar was to research customers, competitors and suppliers on how they communicate certain social issues and contributions. I also had the opportunity to write for a Canadian children's magazine about the IC Electric School Bus. I had to explain to an audience of 8 to 12 year olds on why the electric school bus is better for the environment. While at Navistar I was also able to have some fun and drive all the different trucks that they produce through the International brand. I am grateful for all the opportunities that I have been a part of and it amazes me how much can change in such little time.
